My most popular swage block is back for a limited third run! Designed by a working blacksmith and used daily in the Melton Forge Works shop. The Melton Forge Works Version 1 Mini Swage Block - a compact, versatile tool that packs a punch! Made from 6150 alloy steel, this 10.5 pound block measures 5x5x2 inches and is packed with features to meet all of your forging needs.
With round drifting holes ranging in size from 3/8 to 1 inch, a 1 inch square hole for upsetting hardy tool shanks, and both round and triangular swage forms on the side, this block has something for every project. Each of the sides of the block have useful forms. One side is gently curved, while the other is left flat, allowing you to grind any radius you need to use the mini swage as an edge block. The three deep, round swage forms can be used for creating scoops or cupping shapes, etc. Deep round swage diameters are: 2.3inches, 2inches, 1.5 inches. (These are forms I found to work well with the 2.5 rounds I use for scoops)
Please note that this swage block is fresh from the foundry with blanchard ground faces and will require some dressing and cleanup. This product was a collaborative effort with Charles at @atlasknife_tool, this block will ship directly from his warehouse.
Already purchased a Mini Swage? Then you need a stand! Go check out the one Roy designed for these blocks over at Christ Centered Ironworks - https://www.christcenteredironworks.com/store/p598/mini_swage_block_stand_kit.html
These blocks are cast from 6150 alloy steel in a foundry in China. I designed the block, but the casting work is done overseas. I prefer to be transparent about that. If this is a concern for you, I completely understand. Like many smiths, I use tools from all over the world in my shop, power hammers, drills, and other equipment, and I use them to make quality USA-made forged products every day.
